1961 to 1981 

 

1961 - First Good Friday concert - Sir John Stainer's - Crucifixion.

1964 - Poster still shows 'Augmented church choirs of St. Nicolas and St. Mary

           de Haura.

1969 - Poster shows 'Shoreham Oratorio Choir'.

 

1970 - Poster shows 'St. Mary's Oratorio Choir'.

 

1971 - Summer - Sheila Chaplin leaves for Holy Cross, Uckfield.

 

1972 - Michael Ades of Keymer, asked to conduct the 'Oratorio Choir'.

           First concert - Mozart Requiem.

           David Bennett (organist) referees England vs France Schoolboy                               International.

 

1973 -

 

1974 - Sunday Half-Hour - BBC Radio Broadcast from St. Mary de Haura.

 

1975 -

 

1976 -

 

1977 - Summer - Farewell concert for Rev. and Mrs. Froggatt

 

1978 - December - First Christmas Concert to be performed by S.O.C.?

 

1979 - December - Jasper Rooper / Peter Vincent - Premiere of their composition             'Voices on a Winter's Night.

 

1980 - January - Jasper Rooper become President of S.O.C.

         - Tony Allen joins S.O.C. to sing bass at Good Friday concert.

 

1981 - May - Gala Evening held at Shoreham College.

         - June - Elmshorn Madrigalchor 1st visit to S.O.C. Shoreham-by-Sea.

      - August - Death of Jasper Rooper.

      - September - S.O.C. 1st visit to Elmshorn, Germany.
